Breakfast: Shredded wheat, Soda Bread with butter and honey, Hot Apple and Blackcurrant juice.
Lunch: Soda Bread and Cheese, Apple.
Tea Time: Veg stew with broccoli and potatoes.
Snack: shortbread
Beers: Deuchars IPA and Belhaven light.

Actually its difficult to find an online link for Belhaven Light- its weak but it looks very dark.

Began to feel unwell in the pub like I had been drinking 8 pints instead of 0ne and a Half. Smells became very pronounced again. Felt sick. Self diagnosed noroVirus, which Charlie and my Dad have had very recently.

Day 23

For breakfast i had shredded wheat, toast butter honey and got apple and blackcurrant juice. For lunch i had Oatcakes and cheese. And apples. At tea time i had a cheese omlette and chips. In the evening i ate homemade shortbread.
Very similar things to eat from yesterday. I have talked to loads of people about this now. Food is political. Its in the public arena and the decisions we make about it affect our world- from what we choose to produce to how we produce it to packaging methods to transport to supermarkets to waste. And beyond. But the weird thing is that maybe 50 years ago most people would have eaten like this in the uk. And in other parts me the world its probably the norm.

Day 22

For breakfast i had shredded wheat, toast butter honey and got apple and blackcurrant juice. For lunch i had Oatcakes and cheese. And apple juice. At tea time i had a veg pasty and potatoes with some veg stew. In the evening i went to the pub quiz and had a pint and a half of bitter and twisted. Nice.
Not nice is the amount of excess gas i seem to be generating. That seems to be the main side effect of my diet. That and enhanced sense of smell. Not an ideal combination i suppose. Oh and one of my work colleagues said my skin looked clearer! Thats likely the 'toxins' coming out my system. Or lack of reeses peanut butter cups.

Day 21

Breakfast: Porridge, Toast with Butter and honey, Hot Apple and Blackcurrant Juice.
Lunch: Scrambled Egg and Toast. Apple.
Tea Time: Vegetable Stew with Baked Potato.
Evening Snack: Homemade biscuits. Fursty Ferret Beer.

This was a coooking day again and I made the stew, some oatmeal shortbread (by replacing some of the flour with fine oatmeal) and Oatcakes. The oatcakes are too thin to be spread but taste ok. The binding thing is butter and water and they were fried. Healthy!?!

I should have had a cholesterol check before I started to see what the impact is. No chocolate though. Thats got to be good for it. Butter, cheese and eggs might not be though.

Day 20 Half Way Point

Breakfast: Shredded Wheat, Homemade bread with butter and honey, Hot apple and blackcurrant.
Lunch: Oatcakes and Cheese.
Evening Meal: Green Split pea soup, Veggie Pastie and Baked Potato.
Snack: homemade biscuits.

Forfeits: £1 oatcakes had palm oil in, but were all I could get today.

Have I said how much I miss a cup of tea? Hot water and juice are fine and all but... a cup of tea would be great. At Linlithgow Palace on Sunday there was a sign up next to the room that was the brewhouse saying that beer was commonly drunk at every meal before tea was introduced. I think because the water supply would not be clean. I could give beer at every meal a go.. or maybe not. I think it wouldn't be like beer we have today it would have been weak and warmish, actually that sound ok.

Day 19

Breakfast: Porridge, Homemade Bread with Butter and Honey, Hot apple and Blackcurrant Juice.
Lunch: Split Green Pea Soup, Spelt Risotto.
TeaTime: Leek and Potato Soup, Spinach Roulade with Baked Potato, Baked Apple in Pastry.

I made more bread with yeast using a recipe that had no kneading involved. The bread is quite a bit lighter than the last one- but the act of kneading was quite satisfying. Ate some left overs at Lunch and then went to Mum's for my tea. Managed to choose the whole menu, that seems a bit selfish I suppose, but it was very nice though. and nt that radically different to things we would usually eat at my mums.

Day 18

Breakfast: Porridge, Scones with Butter and honey, Hot apple and Blackcurrant juice.
Lunch: Sandwich on Arran Cheddar Cheese with pickle and Chips.
Tea Time: Split Pea soup. Spelt risotto.
Evening Snack: Home made biscuits.

So today Yvonne and I went out for Lunch to the Wheelhouse,in Falkirk. I was joking to her that i'm like the Danny Devito Character in Get Shorty- never order anything straight off the menu. So they had an Arran cheddar sandwich with bacon or something. So I had it without the bacon obviously. The bread and pickle were the dubious bits so I will pay the full forfeit for that: £5.50.

At night I used Spelt. Off the top of my head (before I check the internet) Spelt is one of these superfoods things that was an ancient grain grown in the UK that you don't get much of now- its been replaced by other things- particularly Rice in our diet now. The packet had a recipe for a Risotto which I went for. It tasted quite nice really. Spelt has more of a sweetish flavour. The other thing was that it had quite a lot of husks in it. I will check it a bit more thoroughly next time I use it. Now here is the link to SPELT on wiki so you can check if I was just havering.
